BCU 1 Star Training Assessments

These prices include equipment, craft and transportation. If a client/clients have their own equipment and craft/s a cheaper concession price can be offered for any course, please ring to discuss this if this applies

Kayaking or Canoe 1 star awards:-

This course is about getting to grips with the fundamentals. These include personal paddling skills, safety and rescue, leadership, group skills, and theory needed to paddle different craft safely on waterways anywhere. This course is run as an intensive 1 day course in either kayak or canoe. If a candidate holds the required experience (prerequisites) then a single assessments can be offered.  Whether you want to push your skills, theory or experience, I will work on core skills you need to take you paddling.

BCU 2 Star Training/Assessment

To undertake a 2 star course there must be at least 1 other paddler in the group besides the Assessor/ instructor = a min of 2 people. This person does necessarily need to take the assessment but be present for the candidate to demonstrate leadership.

Kayaking and Canoeing 2 star awards:

This course is about getting to grips with the fundamentals needed to paddle different craft safely on waterways anywhere. These include personal paddling skills, safety and rescue, leadership, group skills, and paddling theory needed for paddling a kayak and a canoe. This course runs over two day providing time for 2 river journey to take place in a Canoe & Kayak at a relaxed pace, whilst being taught the skills. this is ideal for someone who has completed a 1 star course, or has some but limited experience in 1 craft.

2 Star 1 day course.

If candidates has prior experience in one craft (either a kayak or open canoe) and have already completed 2 river journey, then an intensive 1 day course can be offered.

  • Requirement: 1 star with enough paddling experience to feel able to pass one discipline and need approx 1/2 day fine tuning in either Kayak or Canoe.
  • Ratio: 1:4 with own personal kit = 1:6
  • Cost: 1-4 =£240, Concessions  5=£270, 6=£300.

1/2 day Assessment only.

If a candidate meets all the prerequisites and can perform the skills in 2 different craft (safety, knowledge and leadership) then a half day assessment can be offered.

  • Requirement: 1 star, 2 river journeys longer than 3km plus can demonstrate all skills listed in assessor notes.

BCU 3 Star White Water Training/Assessment

Kayaking 3 star awards:

This course is about getting to grips with the the fundamentals of personal kayaking skills on white water. This couse will build and extend your knowledge understanding and personal abilities from the 2 star and focus on safety, rescue, leadership, and theory to paddle a kayak safely on white water.

BCU 3 Star Touring Kayak training & assessment.

The 3 Star paddler can consider themselves as an intermediate paddler rather than a beginner; they have demonstrated personal competence as a member of a group paddling in a variety of venues. These venues include open water in conditions of winds up to force 3, and/or ungraded rivers that have a discernible green flow

This course is an intensive 2 day course. If candidates meet most of the prerequisites, then a 1 day quick training and assessment can take place. If the candidates meet all the prerequisites then a 1/2 day assessment can be offered. Whether you simply want to push your white water skills, theory or gain extra experience and gain coaching in this dynamic grade II/II+ environment, book a course and I will focus on your core skills needed to take you paddling.

*Note 3 Star Assessments must be booked a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. Assessments can only be run if there are 2 people on the course (excluding the assessor) although both do not have to be taking the assessment.*
